Ikawa Dam and Lake Ikawa

Spectacular views

This artificial lake with a circumference of about 10km is made up of water from the Southern Alps and was built in 1957 when the Ikawa Goro Dam, Japan's first hollow gravity power plant, was constructed. From the nature trail around the lake, you can see the seasonal colors and the Ikawa Great Buddha.

Umegashima Onsen

This hot spring town is located in the headwaters of the Abe River that flows through Shizuoka City. It is located at the northernmost point on Prefectural Route 29, "Abe Kaido," in the midst of nature at an altitude of about 1,000 meters. A sulfurous hot spring with a history of 1,700 years gushes out from the town, and this hot spring water is supplied to 10 inns and guesthouses. In addition to the inns and guesthouses, the hot spring town also has restaurants and shops, and in Oyu no Furusato Park, where the hot spring water gushes out, there is the cave "Iwaburo," which is the main source of the hot spring water, and Yunojinja Shrine. There are also plenty of mountain climbing and hiking trails in the surrounding area, such as Abe Pass, where Ooitayamameigetsu and Shiroyashio Tsutsuji grow in their natural habitat.
